Outrageous Concert Ticket Prices (Jay-Z, Justin Timberlake, & Beyonce): Kid Rock is Speaking Out!

So I'm watching Wendy Williams which I watch regularly. I like Wendy Williams but she's severely messy and drama filled. But that's a blog for another day. Anyway she has a segment called Hot Topics in which she mentioned Kid Rock being upset with his friends Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake.

Apparently all these guys are good friends and are on good speaking terms. But Kid Rock feels like their ticket prices are outrageous and ridiculous. Wendy said that tickets for their concert was going for as much as $650 for tickets! She also explained how Kid Rock was totally against the outrageous prices and he thought his friends were being unreasonable with their ticket prices.

To offset the outrageous ticket prices that are being offered by his colleagues. Kid Rocks' tickets for his concert tour are starting at $20!  Kid Rock stands to lose anywhere from $50,000 - $100,000 from each show. He also has lowered the prices on parking, merchandise, and of course ticket prices.
According to Starpulse.com, in a recent interview with Piers Morgan Kid Rock had several statements for the outrageous ticket prices:
"It's garbage. It's highway robbery. I don't care who you are...I would consider both of them in a circle of friends in the business but I don't agree with it."
He went on to further state:
"It's gotten out of hand. The price of concerts, the price of entertainment period. You know, whether it's a sporting event, going to the movies, buying a soda there, whatever... I've always tried to keep prices what I think are fair. And I've always said I'm proud that I could walk around with my head held high and look someone in the eye, knowing that I haven't taken an un-honest dollar from a working man... I make a lot of money. I can take a pay cut."
Kid Rock has many businesses that he has invested in and started. He's a very wealthy man worth well over $37 million.

I did some research online and found out that the tickets really are outrageous. Take a look at these photos taken with my iPad of the Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z's: The Legends of the Summer

Starts at like $70.00 for a ticket then the highest ticket is like $13,000.00! The higher the ticket the more you have in the package: like food, pre-show tickets, backstage passes, etc. The package that has $13,000.00 for a price includes pre-show party and dinner, backstage passes, etc. The Luxury package includes 6 tickets and parking passes that equal up to $13,000. That's $2,174.83 per person. Way too much for a 2 to 3 hour concert.

I decided to look up Beyonce's tour cause I heard her tickets were outrageous as well and let me tell ya'll it was no different with Mrs. Carter either. Starting off one ticket was $150.00. The highest ticket I saw for Beyonce's tour was $4,000!

I'm not shocked at the prices for these concerts. The last concert I went to was the R. Kelly Double Up Tour that came to Cleveland in 2007 with Keyshia Cole and J. Holiday. It was my birthday and my first/last time going a concert. My mom won free tickets through the radio station and that was my birthday present from her. I just can't believe that they are charging people this much and people are really going pay this!

My hat goes off to Kid Rock! I've always been a fan of his music and just him in general. He's a great guy and for him to make his tickets $20 and knock off the price of the merchandise & parking is so AWESOME!

I would like to think that Jay-Z, Beyonce, & Justin Timberlake appreciate their fans enough to do something for them. Without the fans none of you would have a career. Your livelihood is built on the backs of your fans. I hope you guys appreciate that.

Anyway Good Luck on of your tours and new albums. I can't wait to hear the music!

K. Michelle is Leaving Love & Hip Hop: ATL!

K. Michelle claims she's tired of the drama on Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta. And on several occasions she has mentioned that this season will be her last on the hard hitting reality drama. During a DC concert K. Michelle made a big announcement about her departure and had a little message for her co-stars as well. Here's what she said via Madamenoire.com
“I’m announcing that, I won’t be on ‘Love & Hip Hop’…I just feel like when God is brining you to the positive, it’s very hard to say ‘Thank you Jesus and f**k you b****es’,” she told fans during a D.C. concert.

There was a rumor that K. Michelle was getting her own show on VH1 and she confirmed that on a radio station during an interview in February via Madamenoire.com:
“God is just bringing me to a whole different place. My mouth is still bad. I drink and act a fool. But, I just don’t think that [Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta] is where I need to be. I do have my own show coming on VH1. You guys are gonna like that one a lot. You really are,” she said before going into her popular “I Just Wanna F**k” track.

Its also being reported by theJasmineBrand, that K. Michelle (as well as Lil Scrappy & Karlie Redd) was a no show to a premiere party for Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta Season 2.

K. Michelle...K. Michelle, oh lawd you are just a mess but I love that about you! Listen, I actually dig K. Michelle. She's brash, outlandish, and her mouth has no filter. But thats one of the things I love about her. She's an awesome singer and entertainer. But sometimes if people don't understand it they will get offended. I just think she needs to tone it down for a little bit. Her strong opinion and I don't care attitude is what making her look like a true "villain" on the show. Most of the time the things she says are true and need to be said but she doesn't sugar coat what she says it just comes out and you have to accept it regardless.

I'm glad she's moving on. It really doesn't do her justice to be on the show. Its a messy show with a lot of drama and back biting. If it was scripted it would be a show that you watch like Scandal or the Good Wife. But because its reality it really does look BAD! On Mona Scott for putting it out there and for the cast members of the show. Case in point: When Flavor of Love and I Love New York were popular it was because of the devious nature of these people to win. They were never in love with the man or the woman of the show. They were in love with being on tv. It got so bad that VH1 shied away from those types of shows and began what I call the "Housewive/Frenemy" format. Throw a set group of people into a situation some of them are around each other on occasion, others are meeting for the first time. And just let them have it out. Force them to throw a few parties, go on vacation together and just let the cameras roll. People would believe it more if these people were TRUE friends. For them to turn on each other the way they do I don't think they were ever real friends.

K. Michelle, Im glad this show is all about you and no one else. It should chronicle your love life and career. Just get away from Rasheeda, Mimi and the other women (no offense to any of them but you guys have to admit that mixing K. Michelle in with those women is a recipe for disaster). Do your thing, which is music. I can't wait for the album and the show.

Good Luck K.K. and in your words "Rock Out wit Yo Cock Out" LMAO!

Janelle Monae Graces the Cover of ESSENCE Magazine!

Janelle Monae is an R&B/Soul/Pop artist that has been praised for her coiffed pompadour (which is traditionally a mans hairstyle) and her various tuxedo's which she wears at every event and every time she is in the public eye. Janelle Monae looks awesome on this cover. She doesn't make herself into some type of sex symbol. She's using classic timeless looks from both genders and creating a look of her own that works for her.

Some people are tired of seeing her tuxedo look but I'm not. I think she can spin that look into different versions if she just added a pop of color or wore a pencil skirt instead of a pair of slacks. Just a suggestion for me (which below I found a photo of that small pop of color I was suggesting earlier, she's light years ahead of me lol). I hope Janelle keeps on pushing with recently being named a spokes model for CoverGirl she's moving right along in Hollywood but doing it her terms!

According to MadameNoire.com Janelle has a particular message she's been trying to get out:

“People don’t ask Jay-Z to take his shirt off when he rhymes…I like skirts and dresses just like everyone else, but I had a message I needed to put out there. It was up to me to show people and young girls there was another way.”

Here's a snippet from the article available via FashionBombDaily.com of the Essence Interview:
"redefine what it means to be sexy and what it means to be a woman. Showing my skin is not what makes me sexy. I like skirts and dresses just like everyone else, but I had a message I needed to put out there. It was up to me to show people and young girls there was another way."
As I mentioned before Janelle is doing BIG things with her career her new album Electric Lady is coming out soon and she of course has her CoverGirl contract. She's graced the covers of other magazine's as well ELLE, Honey, JET, PRIDE, jones, RollingStones, north, BLURT and etc. The Huffington Post covered her CoverGirl announcement and how she felt about being considered a beauty icon.

She had some really great and inspiring things to say and I wanted to share it with you guys:
What’s the best beauty advice you’ve ever been given?
"You are only as beautiful as the many beautiful things you do for others without expectation."
We were so excited to hear that you were tapped to join CoverGirl's crew of beauties. How do you plan on inspiring your fans through your specific CoverGirl ads/commercials?
"I truly want to help redefine what it means to be a strong and beautiful woman in the music and fashion worlds. I'd love to encourage all women to embrace the wonderful things that make us unique. Becoming a CoverGirl is truly a gift--it opens up a new platform for me to inspire women to feel stronger, braver and more beautiful inside and out. I want everyone woman to know in her heart that she is already a CoverGirl."
Being a woman of color, does the role hold special significance?"Absolutely, I want every woman of color, women everywhere, to know we are all CoverGirls and to feel even more proud, more fearless, and more beautiful inside and out!"

Keyshia Cole Throwing Shade? Michelle & Beyonce Caught in the Wrath

In the last couple of weeks or rather months things have been fired up between Beyonce and Keyshia Cole. This whole things started with Beyonce's performance at the Superbowl this year. As with anything on tv now a days Beyonce's performance was dominating social media from instagram to twitter to Facebook.  From pictures to comments she was the topic of the conversation. Even the winners of the super bowl took a back seat to her performance. There was a power outage shortly after her performance and people blamed her for the delay of the game, the outcome of the winner and everything! But I digress, Beyonce's performance in my opinion was great she put on a full blown show. She even included her former girl group mates Michelle and Kelly of Destiny's Child for a small performance. And thats when all hell broke loose. Apparently people were not pleased with Michelle's performance and the main person voicing their disdain for her singing was the always controversial Keyshia Cole took to her twitter and tweeted the following (Read from the bottom up):

While Michelle got the brunt of Keyshia Cole's fury she was not the only one on stage during Beyonce's performance. Kelly Rowland was there as well to make the Destiny's Child appearance whole. Keyshia apparently had nothing to say about Kelly's performance her only gripe was Michelle's. People decided to defend Michelle on twitter ripping Keyshia Cole to shreds via her mother, husband, sister, and just her in general. So what was Kelly's response? According to TheBoomBox.com here's what she said:

"It didn't even make it on my radar until other people brought it up," Rowland says. "It didn't even matter. We had a wonderful performance, and that's all I cared about. I was with my sisters and the three of us matter to each other, and that's all that counts. We matter to a lot more people, with all due respect, than her. So, I really don't care what she said."

Allegedly Michelle responded to the Keyshia Cole's tweets, but Michelle actively denies responding.  As far as this situation goes Beyonce' didn't respond either. She was just happy in her moment and relished every bit of it.

Then, last week Beyonce released a snippet of 2 of her new songs Bow Down/I Been On. Bow Down is the song that has people talking. The song suggests that women should Bow Down to the moniker that has been given to Beyonce by fans and her peers "Queen Bey". Which by looks of this song she is so "graciously" accepting. Well once Keyshia Cole got wind of the song and she took to twitter again to give her shade..I mean two cents lol. Here's what Keyshia said:

Die hard Beyonce fans let her have it every chance they got. But Keyshia seems unfazed.  However Keyshia's not the only one who is turned off by the song. Controversial talk show host Wendy Williams is disappointed in the song as well. On her hot topics show thursday afternoon she felt this was unnecessary of Beyonce. Because of her status and where she is in the music industry Wendy feels she doesn't need to put out music like this claiming "it is beneath her".

No response to Keyshia, Wendy, or any of Beyonce's other critics.

Honestly I don't think Beyonce feels this way truly. Yeah, yeah I know what your all saying. "Girl bye okay! Look at her, her life, the way she is, her alter ego Sasha Fierce, Come ON NOW!" But let me explain, LOL.

First off Beyonce has pulled this card once before. "Run the World" was not the big hit maker people wanted Beyonce off her last album. She was being massacred in the news by bloggers, music critics, anyone that heard the song either really liked it or really hated it. But she pushed on and 4 became a platinum album, with multiple hits (like Best Thing I Never Had, Love on Top, Party, 1+1, End of Time, & Countdown) despite the hatred for the first single. Personally I think this is just a ploy to stir up conversation and media on her next album/concert tour. She knew that the previous tactic worked so why change the format.

I don't take the music so personally. I'm not bowing down to anyone. If the song really irritates you think of it this way: You hold the power when it comes to artists like Beyonce, Keyshia Cole, etc. They would be nothing without our support as fans. That real, actual FACT. I have no opinion on the song its just music to me, and thats REAL.

Like I said she's not talking about me and I'm not taking it personally. So as far as I'm concerned do what you do Beyonce! Your record sales will show how people really feel. I bet they'll get over it ;p. Just one more thing, I find it funny ya'll are mad at Beyonce for her song Bow Down but you say nothing about Two Chains asking for a big booty chick for his birthday and BS like that! Women have been treated like sexual objects for a while in the music industry. We're not people or worth anything more than just a trophy, something to be acquired. Guys like Lil Wayne, Baby, Soulja Boy, etc they don't rap about anything but sex, money, cars; things they've acquired after being in the industry. When all you women begin to hold them accountable for their music then this can be a legitimate conversation. Oh and by the way if you say we have your a lie. You really haven't. Cause if you did it would be front page news and subject of conversation for every media outlet in the world just like Beyonce's music lyrics. Whew! Now I'm through LOL.

*If you haven't heard the song here's the snippet from SoundCloud.com
